Municipal Protected Areas Program
Tools and knowledge to reverse the decline of Canada's biodiverse urban natural spaces.
Opportunity
Canada's municipalities, home to some of the country's greatest biodiversity, are under threat. Cities, towns and regions develop unique measures to protect their natural spaces. It's time to align their independent efforts to meet Canada's target to protect 30% of our land, water, and oceans by 2030.
Resources

Nature organizations across Canada are working together to support municipalities, land trusts, and conservation authorities to understand how their natural sites can contribute to a pan-Canadian movement to halt and reverse nature’s decline.
Regional land trust networks play a key role in this effort.
