Municipal EcoToolkit
About
Designed by the Miistakis Institute to be a resource for Alberta municipalities seeking to maintain their natural infrastructure systems.
The first two tabs on Nature Infrastructure and Maintaining the System are overview 101-type sections for those that do not yet know concepts like natural assets, functions, and their benefits.
The eco-toolkit itself outlines incentives, plans, and mechanisms that municipalities can take on to support a greater valuation of natural infrastructure. This list of mechanisms mentioned throughout this toolkit are much more broad than protected areas, but they can all lead to better conservation practices in your municipality.
There are helpful guides and case studies throughout.
Connect with us
We believe in the major opportunity for municipalities to showcase their conservation efforts on a national platform. This is where biodiversity can be protected, where conservation lands can be connected, and Canadians can gain an appreciation for their local natural wonders.
