Tools for Municipalities and Land Trusts to Work Together

How-to, municipal, strategy
Municipalities and land trusts can collaborate on land conservation through strategic acquisitions and stewardship, enhancing management practices and community engagement for long-term sustainability.

LTABC’s Municipal Handbook : A Guide to Private Land Conservation explores the role of land trusts at the community and local level providing an overview of mechanisms for private land protection and defining the difference with municipally protected areas such as parks and greenspaces. The guide encourages elected officials at the municipal and regional council level to have discussions with land trusts about partnerships and how to support funding requests and advance tax incentives for landowners. The guide can also be used as a template for other provinces wishing to educate municipal governments and the promotion of tax incentives.
